Lyna Azwaw is an artist based in Geneva. Her practice operates in shifting territories: installation, sculpture, poetry and performance. Sometimes distinct, occasionally colliding.

Each work is composed of few deliberate elements, making the sensate perceptible and the erotic translated into tangible surfaces. She treats materials, words, and situations with attention to their prior lives, uses and potential trajectories. Her work gestures refusal; against automatic consent, assigned roles, and the unfinished logic of consumerism. Objects are not simply found but pursued and retrieved. They reappear in altered positions from one work to another, or return to circulation.

Her writing plays a restless game across languages: “I don’t find my words, I look for them.” She speaks in fractured tongues; the Arabic she nearly lost and the English that slips away. Relying on recollection with the first and memorisation with the second, while French remains the quest for what is lost or gained between broken languages.

Since 2022, she has co-led BRUTAL, a series of evenings in Marseille dedicated to poetry and text-based performance.

She also writes and performs as yaabilar.
